2012 REPORTS

Report 1: Matt Kalil - He is with the Vikings number one draft choice, number four overall. We talk to Kalil about breaking into the NFL, getting reps against the likes of Jared Allen, and how this offensive line takes shape.

Report 2: Erin Henderson - Some predict Henderson is a dark horse ready to have a break out season. We talk to him about his recent popularity/respect from national publications, the linebacking corp for the Vikings, and the first year he'll be playing without his brother as a pro on the team as E.J is no longer on the roster.

Report 3: Jasper Brinkley - EJ Henderson is no longer on the Vikings' roster and Jasper Brinkley looks to take over the Middle Linebacker spot. He is coming off a hip injury which sidelined him all of last season, but looks to be in good shape as the man in the middle. We talk to Brinkley about replacing a leader like EJ, his health, and the studious nature of the position.

Report 4: John Carlson - Carlson was a free agent acquisition from Seattle. He is currently nursing an injury in camp, but sounds like he'll be back in a few weeks. We talk to him about his injury, coming back and playing in his own state, and his outlook concerning the team.

Report 5: Josh Robinson - Robinson is battling several others for a starting spot on the roster and could end up as the nickel or dime back for the Vikings. He is also battling a hamstring injury this preseason which will decrease his chance of making the starting roster. We talk to Robinson about the healing of his injury, his transition to the NFL, and covering large receivers in the division.

Report 6: Harrison Smith - Smith is making quite an impression in camp with this hitting. So much so, he got into an shoving match with Percy Harvin late last week in practice. We talk to Smith about his transition to the NFL, playing with a group of alumni from Notre Dame who are also on the roster, and the main thing he has picked up so far in camp.

Report 7: Jarius Wright - We talk to Jarius about his impressive college numbers and how that game might translate to the NFL. We talk to him about special teams play and also his relationship with fellow rookie WR, Greg Childs.

Report 8: Jerome Simpson - He was an off-season free agent aquisition from the Bengals and is serving a three game suspension at the beginning of this season for some off field issues during the off-season. Simpson has looked good in camp so far and is becoming a fan favorite as he is signing a lot of autographs. We talk to Simpson about his good showing so far, about his impressions of his new team, the quarterback situation, and his becoming a fan favorite down in Mankato.

Report 9: Brandon Fusco - He was drafted last year as a late round center out of Slippery Rock, an NCAA II school. Fusco has become known in practice for his tenacity and is looking to win the starting right guard job for the Vikings this season. We talk with him about the battle for that position, his dream of playing in the NFL, and the outlook for the year.

Report 10: Joe Webb - Webb is competing for playing time with three other QB's in camp including likely starter Christian Ponder. His camp has been so-so at best in Mankato and he did not exactly light it up last week with the second teamers against the 49ers. We talk to Web about what he is focusing on in camp this year, where he would like to play on the field given the continuous talk of him as a WR option, and his impression of the receivers in camp.

Report 11: Toby Gerhart - He is getting a lot of reps in the preseason practices with Adrian Peterson on the shelf rehabbing his knee. Gerhart is really looking the part in Mankato as the guy who can spell AP, but also be the guy who could start the season if Peterson needs more time. We talk to Gerhart about being in perhaps the best shape of his football life, a 'day in the life' of his during the off-season to come in to camp in this good of shape, and being ready for a bigger work load perhaps this year.

Report 12: Mistral Raymond - I actually attended the game Friday as the Vikings defeated the Bills and caught up with Raymond after the game for this interview. In my opinion, this game is the best Raymond has played as a Viking. We ask him about that and also about a few of his significant plays, including a tackle for an 8 yard loss and another play where he met a running back at the line of scrimmage. He also batted down a pass coming over the top of a receiver. Raymond discusses those plays with us. We also ask him how bad he wants the starting safety spot, where he may now have an inside edge after this performance.

Report 13: Christian Ponder - Ponder has had a good camp and preseason so far. His timing and rapport with receivers looks sharper and he looks to be the unquestionable starter as the team heads into the season. We talk to Ponder about the difference with this camp compared to the lockout situation lasty year, his timing with receivers, and who has caught his eye in camp from the receiving core.

Report 14: Chad Greenway - Greenway is coming off his first probowl season where he led the team in tackles again. We talk to him about the linebacking core jelling with the new starting middle linebacker in Jasper Brinkley. We also talk about his season, discuss the new defensive coordinator and familiar face back as linebacker coach.

Report 15: Kyle Rudolph - Rudolph comes in with a lot of upside. He did not have the greatest rookie season last year, but definetly looks to improve on his first year numbers; especially with the absence of Shiancoe and Kleinsasser. We talk to Rudolph about having more time this summer entering training camp to work with Christian Ponder. He now admits to us that he was not 100% last year from his college injury at Notre Dame, but now is. We also talk about the group of tight ends with the Vikings this preseason.

Report 16: Everson Griffin - Griffin has shown his great athletic ability over the past few years with the Vikings. In fact, so much they tried him at OL, but moved him back to defensive end. We talk to Griffin about his position flexibility and his role on special teams.

Report 17: Blaire Walsh - He was drafted in the 6th round out of Georgia. It's a rarity that a kicker gets drafted anymore in the NFL, but there happened to be three drafted this year. We talk to Walsh about how far he can kick it, replacing a probowler like Ryan Longwell, who was released after the NFL draft, and how he intends to improve his accuracy, which fell off his senior year of college.

Report 18: Kevin Williams - Williams is coming off a poor season last year by his standards, but did rebound to record five sacks over the last 7 games. Early last season, he battled plantar fasciitis that probably bothered him throughout the season. He looks healthier in camp this year and could be a difference maker again. We talk to Williams about last years injuries, getting back to health, and where he is now compared to last year. We also ask him who he thinks might be playing next to him in the other defensive tackle spot.

Report 19: Jared Allen - He led the league in sacks last season and challenged the all-time sack total while breaking the team record set by Chris Doleman. We talk to DE Jared Allen about the D line, new D-Coordinator, and life off the field.

Report 20: Brian Robison - Robison wil start again at DE opposite Jared Allen. He is coming off an 8 sack season and looks to improve on that number this year. We talk to him about looking the part in his first year starting, his quick start to last seson, the line as a whole, and the look of the devensive unit overall.
